On 20th August, district level chess tournament was held at Bethany English medium High School, Panglai, Puttur. Smt. Asha Thimappa Gowda President D.K. Zilla Panchayat inaugurated the tournament. Smt. Shakunthala Shetty MLA Puttur was the President. Sri. Nalin Kumar Kateel M.P. D.K. Lok Sabha Member, Sri Shashidhar G.S. BEO Puttur, Sr M Christella BS the Province BES Secretary and district as well as Taluk representatives were present on the dais.

In his address Sri Nalin Kumar Kateel called on the budding students to sharpen their mental abilities and to excel in district, state and National levels. Total number of 140 students from seven Taluks competed in the tournament. Valedictory function was held at 4.30 pm. Sr M Sybil BS the Correspondent and Sri Vinaya Bhandari the local Councilor awarded the winners with trophies.
