Rev Sr Mariette BS, the Provincial Superior of Mangalore Province addressing around 110 BLA members from 16 units said that this year has been declared as the Year of Mercy and Compassion by our Holy Father Pope Francis and we are called to show mercy to our brethren in all places at all cost. She placed before the audience how even little children recognize the face of mercy in reality in Pope Francis.
A get together of Bethany Lay Association (BLA) units of Mangalore Province was organized By Sr Cicilia Mendonca BS the Province Coordinator for Pastoral Apostolate on January 15, 2016 at Sacred Heart High School Hall at Kulshekar.
Sr Shalet D’Souza BS, the resource person highlighted different forms of service to the family, Church, society and to the self. She stressed on works of Mercy and prayers related to works of mercy.
Sr Cicilia Mendonca BS helped the group to make an Action Plan for the year as follows:
Goal: To touch with compassion the wounds of humanity.
Means:
-To set priority to family prayers and to read daily the word of God
-To increase membership to BLA
-To visit the sick and lonely in homes and hospitals
-To be creative and alert to the movements of the Spirit
-To encourage vocations to Bethany
Sr Anna Maria BS the superior of Santa Cruz Convent conducted Quiz to the participants splitting the assembly into eight groups. Sr Anna Maria, Sr Shalet D’Souza BS the resource person, Sr Cicilia Mendonca BS the Coordinator of Pastoral Apostolate, Mr Alphonse D’Souza, Mrs Caroline Pais, Mr Michael Dias the senior representatives of BLA were also on the dais along with the President Rev Sr Mariette BS. Sr Lydia BS was the Master of Ceremonies. The sisters of Santa Cruz Community cum their BLA unit took everyone to God’s world with a meaningful prayer hour. Sr Cicilia Mendonca BS welcomed the gathering, Mr Valerian BLA member of Mulki unit rendered vote of thanks. Around 110 members belonging to 16 units took part in this get together. Two of the members from the assembly shared their experience and joy of belonging to BLA.
