Bethany Educational Society, Mangalore Province in view of Raising Scientific Temper among the students of Primary and High Schools, conducted competition in presenting Science Models at Rosa Mystica D Ed College, Kinnikambla. Rev Sr M Cicilia Mendonca BS, the Provincial Superior and Corporate Manager of Mangalore Province, presided over the programme and gave a start for the day by lighting thousand lights in a scientific manner. In her Presidential address, she called on the young students  to be inquisitive, enthusiastic and creative in every aspect of life and study. Every person has multifaceted potentials and energy which needs to be encouraged by the teachers and parents and guide the students to have always a creative mind and innovative ideas in today’s fast progressive world. Dr Vincent Crasta, the Professor and Head of the Department of Physics at St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor was the Chief Guest of the day. He kept before the students the various life examples of the scientists and encouraged them to be a scientist by undertaking small projects in their primary and high school study. He said that one needs to have voracious   appetite for knowledge on a wide range of subjects. Self-education and learning independently will help them to be successful in life. Students presented the various models based on Solar energy,  encouraging  eco-friendly environment and recycling of the waste, water harvesting, minimizing the use of electricity by using solar energy for day today living. Preparation of hydraulic bridge and minimizing the  distance between the urban and rural areas, creation of electricity through various waste material so on were presented.
