Where minds are filled with great dreams, one can expect miracles taking place said Sr Mariette BS, the Corporator Manager, Provincial Superior of Mangalore Province of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany. She was addressing the Inter-collegiate Volleyball and Throw ball Tournament organized by St Raymond’s College, Vamanjoor on Jan 25, 2014.

Rev Fr Ajith Menezes, Asst Director St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, inaugurating the Tournament said that as balloons rise high into the sky when air is filled into it so too the players need to fill their mind with determination and the spirit of the game. Rev Fr Cyprian Pinto, Parish Priest, St Joseph the Workers Church, Vamanjoor Prayed a blessing over the participants of amity and peace.

Sri U T Khadar, Health Minister, Govt of Karnataka who addressed the participants of Tournament and said ‘None can do good by sitting in the Parliament or in corporate offices it is only when you come face to face to the ground reality of people and their problems. I have served my people and have the satisfaction of doing good’.  Around 26 teams took part in the Tournament.

At the valedictory function held in the evening Trophies were given away to the winning teams. In Volleyball, University Campus, Konaje were the Winners; Vijaya College Mulki, Runners Up; Sharada College Mangalore First Runners Up; St Raymond’s College Vamanjoor, Second Runners Up, Volley ball- Best Setter-Dhanraj Vijaya College; Attacker-Naveen University Campus; All Rounder-Ujjwal, Sharada College.

 
In the Throw ball Winners- Besant Women’s College Mangalore; Runners Up- St Agnes College Mangalore; First Runners Up- Government First Grade College Car Street, Mangalore; Second Runners Up- St Raymond’s College Vamanjoor; Best Offence- Shwetha,  Besant Women’s College Mangalore; Best Receiver- Vilita Alvares, St Agnes College Mangalore; Best All Rounder-Reshma, Besant Women’s  College Mangalore. 

 
The Physical Directors of the Campus Sri Jayarama Gowda, Sri Donald Lobo, Sri Ramesh, and the lecturers Sri Denzil Pinto and Anil Lewis were behind the success of the Tournament. Sr Winjoy BS, Sr Therese Sequeira BS, Sr Cecilia D’Souza BS along with Sr Celine Vas BS the Principal were the back bone of organizing the tournament at Mangalore University level. Lecturers of the Degree College and the students deserve a pat on their back for their selfless and loving service in being a host College. Grateful thanks to Sr Christella BS the Correspondent, Sr Roselyta BS the Superior and Sr Mariette the Corporate Manager for their presence and blessings.
