Madeleine PU College, Mulki launched the Social Awareness Week on 15 September 2015 in order to develop an attitude of social concern in the students. Sr Jessy Rita BS the Principal inaugurated the week by displaying the video clippings on the need of helping the poor and the needy. The entire college was divided into four groups under the animation of each co-ordinator who would meet every morning to collect whatever things the students had brought from their savings or sacrifices they had done in satisfying their physical needs. One group tried to excel the other. They were able to gather rice, fruits, biscuits, buns, pencil, pen, books and money. On 22 September 2015, 40 students and the staff went to Wenlok hospital, Mangalore of Dakshina Kannada, and distributed them to 80 children in the Children's Ward. The students had the satisfaction of achieving something great in their life in meeting the needy children, the poorest of them in the Government hospital. This activity developed in them love for the poor, the ability to curb their desire to satisfy extra ordinary needs, and to cultivate team spirit.
