Mangaluru, Mar 16, 2021: The International Women’s Day was celebrated at Jeevandhara Social Service Centrre, Kulshekar, Mangalore on March 16.


Mrs Mariamma Thomas the famous Lawyer from Mangalore was the chief guest. Sr Anna Maria BS, the Secretary of Jeevandhara Social Service Trust, Kulshekar, Mangalore was the president. Sr Ida Janet BS, the Director of Jeevandhara Centre and Mrs Alice Lobo the members of Shanthi group were present on the Dais.


Mrs Mariamma Thomas in her speech applauded the selfless services of Bethany Sisters in the field of Education, Social Work and Health. She encouraged the women to be assertive and bring equality by right instructions to their children from the childhood. She quoted the examples of some of the women who are achievers. Mrs Alice Lobo shared her experience as member of Shanthi Self help group (SHG) started by Jeevandhara Centre, Kulshekar. This SHG is existing for the past 17 years. Thegroup has systematically maintained the records, money transactions and membership. Meetings are conducted regularly. The SHG serves as one of the model group. Sr Anna Maria in her Presidential speech highlighted the history of Women empowerment. She gave a clarion call to the women to work towards equality and Human Dignity.


Sr Ida Janet BS, the director of Jeevandhara Centre Kulshekar welcomed the gathering. Women from 11 self-help groups and tailoring students were present and participated in the programme. Tailoring students and SHG women presented the cultural programme. Sr Wilma Mathew, the coordinator of Jeevanshra Programmes presented the report with PPT and compeered the day’s programme. Mrs Bharathi, the animator thanked all the participants for their gracious presence on the occasion. There were nearly 85 participants. It was indeed a joyful moment for the women to celebrate their day!
