August 18,2021: The blessing of renovated Chapel and erection of Tabernacle was held at Mary Queen Convent Karkal of Bethany Sisters. The Eucharistic Celebration was officiated by Rt Rev Dr Jerald Isac Lobo Bishop of Udupi Diocese at 9.30am. It was also concelebrated by Rev Fr Vincent Crasta the Secretary of CESU and Rev Fr Vijith Mathias the assistant Parish Priest of Christ the King Church, Karkal. In his homily Bishop highlighted the importance of having a chapel in the religious community as power house. He encouraged the sisters to pray for various intentions of the world, Church and specially the people who have none to pray for. The cross and the Tabernacle was erected and blessed by Bishop on the occasion.
After the Eucharistic celebration there was short felicitating programme held in the Convent parlour. Mr Sunil Mendes and Mr Sachin the Contactor and Engineer who had renovated the Chapel were honoured by Bishop with Rose flower plants and mementoes by Sr Cicilia Mendonca the Provincial Superior. The donors of religious articles were honored with Rose plant saplings by the Bishop. The presence of Mr Antony Aranha the Vice President of the Parish and Mr Nevil DSilva the commissions’ secretary was recognized by handing them Rose Plants for their cooperation and collaboration. The service of Scholastics of Udupi Diocese Br John and Br Leeven belonging to Karkal Parish was acknowledged on the occasion. Sr Cicilia Mendonca the provincial Provincial thanked Bishop and other audience on the occasion. Sr Richard compeered the day’s programme. Sr Anna Maria the Provincial Councilor, Sr Patrina the Superior and members of Mary Queen Convent, Sisters along with the Parishioners and well-wishers were present for the programme. The refreshments were served on the occasion.
