The orientation Programme for BLA members was held at Rosa Mystica Convent, Kinnikambla on November 10th 2021 at 5.00pm. Sr Anna Emilia BS the member of Rosa Mystica Convent in her introductory talk explained to the members ‘The role of Laity in the Church’ by quoting the Church Documents specially ‘Lumen Gentium’, the document from Vatican II Council. She further referred Pope Francis who has stressed the Laity involvement in the recent Synodality in the life and mission of the Church. The theme of the Synod, ‘Call to Participation, Communion and Mission’ was highlighted. She gave the background of initiating Bethany Lay Association and involvement of Laity in the Charism and Spirituality of Bethany Congregation. Later Sr Anna Maria BS, the Province Coordinator for Pastoral Apostolate dealt on the theme of ‘Rootedness in Christ, Building Eucharistic Families and Human fraternity.’ She explained to the members their Core Identity as well as Role Identity. They were called upon to live the ‘Eucharist’ in their daily life. The role of Good Samaritan to reach out to the needy was explained by quoting the encyclical ‘Fratelli Tutti’ meaning ‘All are brothers and Sisters’. Hence they were invited to extend ‘Human Fraternity’ and to aspire for a harmonious Society through their life of Prayer and Service.
Sr Leera Maria BS the newly appointed Superior of Rosa Mystica Community was welcomed by Sr Ann Emilia. Sr Sadhana BS the newly appointed Animator was extended floral welcome by Mrs Vijaya DCosta the President of local BLA unit. Sr Sadhana BS welcomed all the BLA members as well as resource persons. Sr Leera Maria in her presidential speech invited the members to get rooted in the Charism and Spiritualty of Bethany and to extend the compassionate service to their families and to the Humanity. Mrs Winnie Rodrigues the Secretary of BLA unit presented the minutes of previous meeting. Mrs Vijaya DCosta thanked all the members present for the programme. Sr Vinitha BS, the assistant BLA animator along with BLA members was present on the occasion. The refreshments were served at the end of the programme.
