Mangaluru, Mar 8: Jeevandhara Social Service Trust celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8 at 10:30 am at Jeevandhara Programme Hall Kulshekar.
Mrs Clara DCunha, the Managing Trustee of TELOCA Addiction Recovery Centre, Mangalore was the chief guest. Sr Anna Maria BS, the Secretary of Jeevandhara Social Service Trust ®, Mangalore was the President. Mrs Lavina DCunha the entrepreneur from Shanthi SHG along with Sr Ida Janet BS, the Director of Jeevandhara Centre was present on the dais.


Mrs Clara DCunha in her message encouraged the women to be leaders in all spheres of life. She also spoke about the difficulties that women go through in families due to atrocities on women. She explained about her activities held for alcoholic dependants in TELOCA centres.
Mrs Lavina DCunha explained about her experience in starting a small business enterprise such as bakery products. She encouraged the women to initiate self employment initially in a smaller scale and later to pursue their initiatives.
Sr Anna Maria BS in her presidential address encouraged the women to assert their rights in the family and in the society. She appreciated the women for participating in the celebration and actively involving themselves in various activities. There were 75 Women from 11 self help groups and tailoring students who participated in the programme.
Mrs Bharathi and Vinutha presented the report of the yearly activities. Sr Ida Janet welcomed the day’s gathering. Ms Vinutha proposed vote of thanks to all those who were present for the programme. Sr Helen Lavisha BS compered the programme.
